Get your Freshers Week looking Freeeesh!

Now that we've got your attention with this ridiculous picture, lets get down to Freshers Week plans!!

So Freshers is coming up... Whether you have been allowed the privilege of a Freshers Stall or not, whether you're a campus based group or not - Freshers Week is a vital time to get people involved in your SPEAK group, so listen up folks...

Freshers Stall-ers:
To the lucky ones who have been granted a Freshers stall at their University Freshers Fair. Hurrah! Now make sure you make the most of it:
Do you have all the vital Freshers Resources:
- 'What is SPEAK Flier'
- 'The latest Pray and Post cards'
- a SPEAK banner
- Latest Volumize
- Sign up to SPEAK sheets

Is my stall: approachable, engaging, friendly and fun

Remember to allow follow up to occur easily. Sign people up to your mailing list and have invites to your first SPEAK event at the Freshers Fair Stall. Make sure that the event is simple and gives people a chance to make friends and chat there. A meal or a film event are simple and easy ideas. Remember people go to groups that they have friends and connections at, so allow these to beautiful ties to flourish

To get resources sent to you, message speak@speak.org.uk and we'll pop some in the post to you pronto!

Non Freshers Fairers:
If you haven't managed to get a Freshers Fair stall at your University Freshers Fair then really no fear. You can try to get a stall with another organisation who already has one, for example the Chaplaincy. However, if you have exhausted all means by which you can get a stall then having a presence on campus during Frshers week is the tactic that you should be going for.

Don't carry a heavy load. Have the 'What is SPEAK flier and also have fliers inviting people to your first SPEAK event. Make sure that the event is simple and gives people a chance to make friends and chat there. A meal or a film event are simple and easy ideas. Town based:
Some people believe that town based SPEAK groups don't need to be thinking about Freshers week - errr errrrr! Wrong! The most sustainable and robust SPEAK groups are ones that splurge across both town and Universities. So do try to make the most of Freshers if you can. Think... Do you have any links at the University you can use? Could you flier on campus?
