Internship 2019 - 2020

SPEAK Internships SPEAK’s Network Support Team has been taking on staff and interns since 2001. From 2001-2006 for 5 years we ran a successful Internship programme. SPEAK Internship gives you great experience; here is what others have said about being an intern and working for SPEAK:

‘The SPEAK Internship was life changing for me. It opened me up to new ideas about politics, justice and God, it stretched me beyond existing skills and what I thought I was capable of. By doing an internship in a smaller grassroots campaign group I was able to try and be responsible for loads of different things, and through that I learnt more than I could have done in a big organisation’. - Jo Frew, SPEAK Network Support Team’s longest serving Intern. Jo joined the internship in 2001 and she carried on working with the SPEAK Network support team for a decade until summer 2011!

‘My first proper job was with working with SPEAK ’ . Beccie C’unha, former SPEAK Intern and now Greenbelt CEO in an interview with the Church Times in 2013.

Internship Partners:

In SPEAK we love partnerships!! We are used to running our Internship in association with other Partners. When we ran in 2001-6 we partnered with Oasis Trust, Workshop and the YMCA. SPEAK Interns also received training and mentoring input from these brilliant groups and YMCA in Walthamstow and Barbican kindly provided accommodation for SPEAK Interns for 5 years! We also ran a summer Internship with World Vision. If you are a church/ network organisation interested in partnering with us for the future of the SPEAK/ NEST internship, get in touch. We are particularly interested in locating groups in London able to provide accommodation for SPEAK Interns (in the way YMCA and Catholic Worker have) in exchange for some work hours/ support or other things SPEAK may be able to give to your group. Please get in touch with us about this speak@speak.org.uk and cc in loudonkey@speak.org.uk.
