SPEAK's Arms Trade Campaign is calling for...

1. A full and open assessment of the UK Government's policy of subsidising military exports, including the social and economic effects of these subsidies on both the UK and recipient countries.

2. Following its closure, the dismantling of DESO and State support of the Arms Industry

3. An end to ECGD cover for military exports to Highly Indebted Poor Countries under all circumstances, as well as an end to ECGD cover for countries with records of human rights abuses or that are engaged in conflicts.

4. More help for industry to move from military to civil production. The Defence Diversification Agency (DDA) in the MoD should be given adequate resources to transfer military skills, knowledge and technology to the civil sector, rather than the converse, as has often been the case so far.
