Vision
We want to see communities of local SPEAK groups, praying together and discipling each other in radical ways of following Christ.
We want each of those communities to be open enough to receive people in to their activities that although centred on Jesus are not covered in layers of Christian lingo and culture that obscure the real message.
Local Faith Links
This will be realised by having people dedicated to develop spiritual practices within local groups, and people dedicated to supporting them. These are Local Faith Links and faith focussed Group Support Workers.
In summary it is to support the local group to share faith. They encourage their Speak group to experiment withpractices, lifestyles and models which share God as our source of personal, social and environmental change.
This can be in the form of both a more deconstructed SPEAK group and a more developed from of Christian community. Faith Links will also be on email loop with other Faith Links where people share models and ideas of what they have been doing for faith sharing. The Faith Links will also be in phone conversation and email contact with the NST Faith Support worker.
Whole Life Discipleship
In SPEAK, we don’t want to just follow the pattern of Western discipleship where we don’t do a list of things that are unhelpful for our spiritual growth, or even just a list of things that are helpful. Although obviously our personal transformation is so important to living a life with God. We want to be thinking about discipleship as a development of our social holiness too and how our lives affect our fellow creations on the other side of the world. How can we act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with our God in all areas of our life? And how can we encourage our fellow SPEAKers and our wider Christian family who might not understand yet God’s heart for justice?
Engaging in the Prophetic
In our campaigns planning and actions, we want to be guided by the Holy Spirit so that we are truly saying something prophetic in to our society, about something specific that we know God wants to see changed.
We want to encourage listening to God in our planning in Flower Model and Local Groups, and give space for people to bring prophetic words to SPEAK as a collective.
