SPEAK at Make Poverty History Rally
The MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY Rally in Edinburgh on the 2nd July was a fantastic indication of the depth of public feeling on the need for global justice. As a quarter of a million people joined together to raise their voice for Trade Justice, Drop the Debt and More and Better Aid, we sent a message loud and clear to the G8 that this was the time for change and action.
Thank you to those of you who made it to Edinburgh in person – you were part of a day that will never be forgotten, and your presence was invaluable. To those of you who weren’t able to get to Edinburgh, thank you for supporting the campaign in other ways - by sending campaign postcards, emails, signing white bands and most importantly praying.
The Meadows started to fill up from early morning and everywhere in the city there were people dressed in white making their way to the rally. People came from across the country to support the campaign – some had cycled (including Lucy Smith from the SPEAK Manchester office), others walked and the rest came on busses, coaches, trains and planes.
