SPEAK Louder in the new Parliament!
The days following the general election have been very long and tense but the hung parliament has led to the first coalition government since the Second World War. There is uncertainty, but there is also great opportunity to make our voice heard because every MP potentially holds the balance of power. This means your local MP really can make a big difference on many of the issues you are concerned about.
Your voice has achieved so much over the past 10 years! Read the latest Pray & Card to see what a difference its made and make sure we SPEAK louder over the next decade!
ACTION 1. Meet your MP (and send the action card to let us know!)
The weeks after a General Election are a great time to meet your MP, whether they’re new or not. Elections always change the face of parliament and we are dealing with a new vision and a new set of priorities. Arrange to meet your MP to introduce yourself and SPEAK, and ask them to support SPEAK’s arms trade, corporate accountability and climate change campaigns. The May 2010 Pullout has easy tips for meeting your MP and some key questions to ask about these campaigns.

ACTION 2: Let us know how you want to get more invovled!
Campaigning for justice is a long process and we can’t do it without YOU continuing to make your voice heard by signing, and asking others to sign, Pray & Post Cards, volunteering at festivals, praying with your SPEAK Group or other SPEAK Links, and organising awarness raising events! See the Post Card for more ways we can support you to get involved!
