Time for Transformation

This weekend was Soundcheck's 10th birthday! Over 200 of you joined us for an action-packed weekend full of live music, workshops and speakers challenging us to go deeper in our journey with God and campaigning for justice! We also launched our new campaign, "Defend Peace: Disarm Tax", for an end to government support of the arms trade! On Monday 150 gathered in central London for a day of prophetic and political action. We repented for our nation's sins and covered a half-sized model of a tank in flowers and messages of peace outside DSO, the government's arms trading department. We then met 15 MPs in Parliament to get them on board with the campaign!

Our main speakers were Ruth Valerio, who has written extensively on justice, environment and lifestyle issues, and Benny Wenda, of the Free West Papua campaign. We also heard from a panel of Roger Mitchell (Passion Ministries), Amy Hailwood (Fellowship of Reconciliation) and Scott Albrecht (Catholic Worker) about the need for repentance of corporate sins as a way to bring about true justice and peace

Workshops were on everything from the next phase of the climate campaign, how to campaign with the election coming up, badge making, the Asia floor wage, SPEAK's new arms trade campaign, careerism or not, how to find our place in the church and much much more.

On Saturday night our spiritual preparation for the Day of Action and campaign included a 'Litany of Resistance' and hammering a piece of fighter jet in to a wheel barrow - 'sanctifying matter'.
