Mobilisation is trying to get other people to get involved with what you are doing

Why invite people to Soundcheck?

We are trying to get everyone to bring along 3 friends to represent the world's 3 richest people, and get 600 people in total to represent the 600 million that,
combined, are poorer than the 3 richest people, to the day of action. Of course, we would love everyone planning to come to the day of action to come to Soundcheck
as well to learn about why we're doing this and vice versa!

Plus it's a great way to teach people what we at SPEAK are about, many people came away from the last Soundcheck, who had never been before with a better idea of why
we do what we do in our seperate groups.

It's much more exciting to be involved in a national event, so people who don't currently attend local Speak meetings may want to go, find our more about SPEAK and then want to start attending SPEAK group meetings.

So as you can see, there are many reasons to invite people to Soundcheck!!
How?

(Taken from the Mobilisation booklet)

  • Firstly, Pray.

  • Work out what you're going to tell people. Would it make you excited about Soundcheck if you heard it?

  • Work out who you know and who you're going to ask

  • Why will they want to come? Make your invitation personal

  • Invite people face to face or send a note

  • Tell them why they will find it interesting

  • Give them a flyer

  • Ask them if they know anyone else who might be interested

  • Keep inviting people - don't be put off if they aren't enthusiastic the first time you ask

  • Be bold! If you believe in what you're doing, your enthusiasm will be infectious.

Sharing Ideas

"We decided to all pay for places ourselves and use the 6th extra space to invite people. Asking people to come to Soundcheck for free is a good incentive."

"We found that organising a bus was a great way to ask people to come to Soundcheck, as we could say, 'come to Soundcheck, there's already a bus organised
so you don't even have to go into the centre to get the train!!" Lucy, Leeds Group 2004
