Pray & Post Cards and Pull-outs
What Are Pray & Post Cards?
Three times a year SPEAK produces a different postcard to send to important decision-makers in government, large companies or financial institutions. The postcard comes with an attached prayer card so that you are able to pray through the justice issue, and a card with the information explaining the issue and why we are concerned about it.
How Do You Use Pray & Post Cards?
You can either use the SPEAK material independently, or in group meetings (e.g. Christian Unions, Fusion cells, youth groups etc). SPEAK encourages groups to use the cards as part of their group worship time as Amos described standing up against injustice as being the kind of worship God desires:
Away with the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the music of your harps. But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-ending stream. Amos 5 v23-24
The idea is that people take time out to sign the action postcards and to pray through prayer points together. You can allow as little or as much time as you feel is appropriate. If you have a quarter of an hour to spare three times a year, a passion for social justice and for prayer then then why not sign up to receive Pray & Post Actions.
Sign Up For Pray & Post Cards
In order to distribute the Pray & Post material we need the help of dedicated SPEAK representatives. These individuals will act as a link between SPEAK and their church, Christian Union, Fusion cell or youth group. They will have the responsibility of ensuring that the group spends 10-15 minutes, three times a year, praying through the points on the prayer card and signing the postcards so that they can be sent off.
If you would like to join the 4000 people who currently receive Pray & Post Cards and then share the resources with another 8000 people then please fill out our on-line form to join SPEAK. Be sure to fill in how many Pray and Post cards you want to recieve. If you are representing a group please give the name of your group and the number of cards that you would like to receive with each mailing. If however you only wish to receive one action for yourself then please enter "none" in the "group representing" field. If you're a university student it would be useful if you could provide us with your term-time address so that we are able to send material direct to you; otherwise you can just ignore the final section. Thanks! Whether you want just one card for yourself or many to pass on to a group, we welcome your support.
Nobody made a greater mistake than the person who did nothing because they could do only a little. Edmund Burke (1729-1797)
