Ruth Valerio
Ruth has written extensively on justice, environment and lifestyle issues, including L is for Lifestyle: Christian living that doesn’t cost the earth, and lives this out locally through active involvement in community regeneration, an allotment and a food co-op. Ruth is currently doing doctoral studies in theology, writes Bible study for Scripture Union and CWR and is manager of A Rocha's Living Lightly project. Ruth will be talking to us about A Life of Transformation to inspire us in our own local contexts.
Roger Mitchell
Roger and Sue Mitchell are on Speak’s Advisory Committee and, with their charity Passion, have been working as an apostolic and prophetic resource to the church for the past thirty years. Their passion is the re-evangelisation of the UK and Europe through the humble repositioning of the church in every sphere of society. Roger will be addressing the question of personal and collective repentance as an introduction to the Transformation theme.
Benny Wenda
Last year Benny Wenda, leader of the West Papuan Independence movement, shared his story of peaceful and costly struggle against the brutal Indonesian occupation of the land. Benny returns to update us on the situation and explain how his story connects to Speak’s campaign to end government support for the Arms Trade.

Ben Gilchrist
In the workshop Meeting Your MP committed activist and former SPEAK director Ben Gilchrist will prepare us for the Day of Action. Ben has a huge amount of experience in campaigns and the third sector and now works with T3SC- an agency that supports and develops the local and community sectors in Tameside, Greater Manchester.
Jonathon Kazembe
Jonathan is a teacher who fled from rebels in the Democratic Republic of Congo, after speaking out against the training of his pupils as child soldiers. The war in the DRC is the bloodiest since WW2 and is fuelled by the mining industry, which pillages the DRC's natural resources, such as Coltan- used to make mobile phones.
Jeremy Williams
Jeremy, a writer who heads up the Make Wealth History project is on the steering group of Transition St Albans. His workshop on Transition Towns will introduce the movement as a tangible local response to the challenge of sustainable living.
Andy Flannagan
Andy Flannagan, broadcaster, author, songwriter, musician and director of the Christian Socialist Movement, will facilitate Identity in Christ and Not in Action in the Check 2 pod. Andy has long been a friend of SPEAK and is passionate about global justice.
