Be Part of The Symbolic Burdens Prayer Petition

Pray in solidarity with the poor - send a visual message to the public - Bring the attention of decision-makers to the real burdens that many suffer.

“Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfil the law of Christ” Galatians 6 v2

In a prophetic and prayerful action to mark the culmination of 2005’s MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY campaign year – and 7 years of SPEAK’s Day of Action - we want to identify with the poor and oppressed who suffer because of the injustice in our trading, debt and aid systems.

Using the inspiration of Ezekiel’s creative demonstration at the injustices in his society, we will demonstrate at the injustices in our society, and depict the hope of change through Jesus.

Ezekiel lay on his side to represent the injustice and oppression in his society. Will you come and bear the burdens that the poor carry because of our unjust laws and policies? Come and Pray in the streets of central London Ezek 4:4-5

We will then go on to lobby our MPs on the issue of unjust trade, unpayable debt and unfair aid conditions.

Just as Ezekiel lay on his side for 430 days to represent the burden of Israel’s injustice, we want 722 people to come to represent the 722 months since the creation of our existing international trading and monetary system, and the modern day hardship that many nations and their people have had to endure because of it.

Invite your MP to the Day of Action - We are holding a lobby for MPs as part of the day of action Monday 27th Feb 2006 2 - 4 pm in the Atlee Room Portcullis House, Westminster
with a presentation at 3pm.

We will be asking MPs to support the reforms of the company law bill that campaign groups including SPEAK want to see. Aks your MP to meet you there.
