A New Campaigns Co-ordinator!

Michael studied Biblical Studies at the University of Sheffield, where he went on to complete doctoral research on postcolonial and liberationist approaches to the gospels, focusing on Jesus’ sayings on poverty and wealth.

Besides his involvement with the SPEAK network over the last six or so years, he has been involved with the Sheffield Fund Education Not War campaign, and UK Friends of Sabeel.

For fun, he likes to make music on whatever instrument may be at hand, and to cook. He has also recently rediscovered his childhood love of playing football.

He says:

I am very happy to be joining the network support team! I consider it a privilege to be able to work in such an exciting environment, and I hope I will be able to support the wonderful work of the people of the SPEAK network. In the coming months I hope to develop the work that Andy (the previous Campaigns Officer) and others have been doing on the Agribusiness campaign, to continue to support the other campaigns that we are involved with, and hopefully to help develop some new theological resources, drawing on my previous work with theologies of liberation and biblical interpretation.
